Lustratus News

1st October 2008 Lustratus has updated the decision makers guide for SAP's SOA-based process integration.  It is a 2008 update of an earlier Lustratus Report, which was very well received, and has been produced in response to considerable user demand. This update includes a range of new functionality rolled out by SAP since the original paper was written.
17th September 2008 Lustratus' Danny Goodall has launched a new blog dedicated to discussing how vendors position and market their products and services.  The REPAMA Strategic Marketing Analysis blog can be found here.
16th September 2008 Is data the forgotten element of a SOA strategy?  Can organisations create data services to ensure consistent, accurate and timely access to information?  Lustratus' Steve Craggs will moderate a webinar discussion for the Integration Consortium on Thursday 18th September.  Registration details can be found here.
1st September 2008 SOA promises great things, but many companies are struggling with its implementation. Projects are getting bogged down, strategic benefits are not being achieved and sometimes SOA strategy is failing to even get to the implementation stage. This paper looks at some of the causes, and the sort of external help and best practices that can help to cure the problems.
30th August 2008 Alert handling has come a long way in both in terms of the wide range of communication mechanisms supported as well as user requirements.  Latest developments in the space see users looking for more business value from notification handling, culminating in embedding this support as a key element of the overall process workflow. This paper discusses this trend and looks at the functionality required in notification software to deliver this 'closed loop' notification processing.
14th July 2008

Can message-driven SOA offer a way to get quick value from SOA?  The idea is to avoid getting tangled up in the complexities of process re-engineering and business transformation, and instead focus on 'quick-hit' business successes through the use of SOA for business integration. The message-driven part refers to the use of a message-based, loosely coupled flow approach which provides a high degree of flexibility that is non-invasive.

The paper looks at the drivers for message-driven SOA, the functionalities required from an SOA infrastructure to deliver it and where it is most applicable.

1st July 2008

Payments processing is under immense pressure today, brought about by industry trends such as globalization and the need for differentiation combined with a continual need to do more with less. Lustratus looks at an emerging architectural model that is better positioned to respond to the needs of payments processing both now and in the future in our latest report on 2nd Generation Payment Processing Systems.

21st June 2008 "Is it time for payment processing systems to go under the knife?" asks Steve Craggs in this Financial-i article.  See the article here (subscription required).

Closed loop notification software Alert handling has come a long way. Not only can a wide range of communications mechanisms be used, such as SMS Text, email, voicemail and fax, but the processing of the alert has become much more of a two-way process, moving from handling 'alerts' to 'notifications'. Latest developments in the space see users looking for more business value from notification handling, culminating in embedding this support as a key element of the overall process workflow. This paper discusses this trend and looks at the functionality required in notification software to deliver this 'closed loop' notification processing.

Mistakes marketeers make - and how NOT to make them

I was reminded how easy it is to get marketing completely wrong today when I saw (on UK television) an advertisement for New York Bagels. Bagels are not as heavily embedded in the UK psyche as in the US, I... Read ‘Mistakes marketeers make - and how NOT to make them’

Data - the forgotten element of SOA

Now and then on this blog I have my ritual little moan about data - how it seems that SOA people just want to talk applications, and no-one cares about the data (apart from the USER of course!). So I... Read ‘Data - the forgotten element of SOA’
