Open Source Software (OSS) is software that is made available in source form, at no charge. The concept is based around the desire of a community to jointly create and develop a source-based offering for the use of the whole community. Licensing usually covers issues like making sure that updates are shared with all members of the community, and indemnification with regard to the source offered.
