This year’s latest IBM marketing initiative coming out of its data division is entitled Information-Led Transformation (ILT). This follows on from its ‘Information Agenda’ thrust in 2008 and the Information On Demand (IOD) drive the year or so before. This may lead IT users to conclude that these are examples of IBM marketing ’spin’; in other words, just attractive-sounding buzzwords that are no more than a new take on old, boring data products. However, first impressions can be misleading, and it is worth giving the topic of Information-Led Transformation, and indeed the aforementioned preceding initiatives, a little more thought.
